If it’s not in the charts

I guess I’m fed up with the common commercial radio stations around here. Just got to rant about that now… I was driving in my car for quite some hours and I run out of CDs. So I turned on the local radio just as they announced, that you may write them an SMS or E-Mail regarding your favorite song and they’d play it.

As I got my mobile phone with me, I have decided to drop them a SMS. The song I wanted to hear is ‘Memories’ by ‘Within Temptation’. 160 Characters hacked, sent.

Just some seconds later my mobile phone told me, that the SMS had arrived and that I’ll be charged 30 Cent and that the service is working with keywords which I’ll be able to view by sending ‘HILFE’ (german word for ‘help’). So I did. Seconds later, I got the syntax for their automated system and sent another message regarding my favorite hit. An SMS arrived telling me, that they got it.

Four hours passed, without a sign of my wish on air. I was listening to that radio station as I wanted to know if they’d grant my wish – without success.

Two days later I had another long journey to do – by car. As SMS did not work, I tried sending them an email regarding my wish just before I jumped into my car. Some seconds later my mobile phone signaled, that a new email just has been received. It was the radio station’s semi automatic default reply that they got the mail. Four hours later, same result as before.

But why? Because it’s not mainstream. Thanks, dear radio station – you have just lost a listener. I know why I’m sticking to the online radio stations.

*grins
