A portable friend on the road
Looking at the current mobile phones, it seems like those little companions would like to be a notebook replacement. But to be honest, something’s missing – and that’s a full keyboard – a keyboard that allows you to type as used to.

Windows 7 Beta

I guess I was part of the crowd who took the Microsoft server down by downloading the new beta version of Windows 7.
Surely I am not the biggest Windows fan on earth – and never will be as I cannot use an operating system that eats my resources for graphical bling instead of providing them to the user. But anyways, a test on a virtual machine won’t harm.

That was the vacation

The vacation was fine and we have seen many things there, but the ‘optional’ costs were really expensive. My girlfriend has considered many things I would have forgotten – I would have been lost without her. She’s really great!

Goodbye Bachmann electronic

I am leaving Bachmann electronic, the company I have worked for as a sysadmin. It was a nice time and I had the chance to learn many new things.
My new job starts at the 1st December this year – but first of all, I need a holiday (starting by the end of this week).

Mobiltelefone

From the historical point of view, the mobile phones were a service provided by railway companies (about 1926). From the technical point of view it wasn’t really useable for the public until 1983 when Motorola built the first phone based on GSM standards (about 1992).
