Groupware
As a system administrator there are many important things in my life I shouldn’t miss – one of them are my e-mails. They have grown as important as coffee for my life. Choosing the right e-mail solution is as important as the choice for the coffee machine.
But let’s be honest – simple mail isn’t always sufficient. In most cases we need to deal with contacts and schedules – in short, we are dependent on a groupware solutions.
The big issue about groupware is usually that they either cannot do the tasks I need (n)or kill my budget for home use as their licenses are for 25 users at minimum. Quite frustrating, huh?

Groupware Patchwork
Thinking back on my mail system here, I usually get that uncomfortable feeling in my stomach as the server structure was more or less some unordered patchwork which was started long time ago.
Everything started back when I still used SuSE Linux, way before YaST2 when the world was still fine and sendmail a great choice for smtp jobs. I was happy to get mails. Spam was not a problem those days.
