tja, leute, in ein paar tagen ist es wieder mal so weit: jahreswechsel! und typisch für einen jahreswechsel sind? na, was ist typisch für einen jahreswechsel? nein, ausnahmsweise nicht bleigießen… auch sonst nix mit schießen! und nur so am rande, “hells bells” ist KEIN weihnachtslied, das kann man das ganze jahr über hören…

also, was ist typisch für einen jahreswechsel? na, schon eine akzeptable idee?

irgendwer hat mich dieser tage mal gefragt, woher ich die ideen für’s tagebuch nehme… keine ahnung, was er da jetzt wissen will, aber woher soll ich denn wirklich ideen nehmen, wenn nicht aus dem alltäglichen leben? irgendwer hat mal gesagt, daß das leben die besten drehbücher schriebe… und die besten geschichten erzähle… und hatte damit genau ins schwarze getroffen!

My first glance at OpenSolaris

Today I was having my first glance at OpenSolaris. Getting the ISO burned, booting the LiveCD and all this didn’t take long and the system was booted, welcoming me with a Gnome Desktop environment – which I personally dislike for several reasons – but at least it is something to work with. And don’t forget: Solaris is the system offering ZFS underneath, which should be worth a look. So I clicked the install icon on the desktop and waited for the process to complete.

Certificates and the mobile phone

It has been quite a while since I started to get SSL Certificates working on my server machines – so it was time to get that stuff running on my mobile phone too. You might wonder now why the phone would need such a certificate, but in this case it’s just some root certificates to enable it to connect to my mailserver.

es hilft nix, ich muß wohl oder übel wieder mal einen termin mit meinem psychiater vereinbaren! alle anzeichen passen, die symptome, ja, ich erkenne sie! eindeutig und unverschleierbar, es ist wieder so weit! die winter-depp-ression ist im anmarsch, wie weihnachten, nur früher und länger anhaltend… und damit ist für meinen psychodoc wieder hochsaison! der arme…

KDE4 drives me crazy

Since a system update during the last days, my system does strange things. As taking a closer look, the troublemakers are related to KDE. My first clue was a broken dependency which causes services to crash – so I ran revdep-rebuild.
